Developing Action Plans for Nursery's
Top Grower Issues: Water, Pests, Labor, Laws, Regulations, Financing, and Research
Every
segment of California's nursery growers shares these common threats, opportunities, and issues.
Other agricultural
commodities focus their resource and voice on influencing the issues that most affect their profit, operations, costs, and
markets.
Nursery leadership, working through the Nursery Growers Leadership Board, has identified
the industry's key issues. They are issues common to all segments and to the industry as a whole. It's time
for growers to come together as an industry and decide in unison what actions to take. It's time for your voice, ideas, and
goals to be heard.
The California Association of Nurseries and Garden Centers invites all
growers to attend the Grower's Summit on this vital topic June 1, 2010, at the Hilton Hotel in Costa Mesa. We'll have
expert moderators and breakouts to develop action plans that address nursery issues including:
- Water: Addressing
supply, quality, pricing, regulation, and runoff
- Invasive Pests: Reducing the impact and disruption of quarantines
- Labor:
Availability, documentation, union organizing, career development
- Legislation: California legislature and U.S.
Congress asks and concerns
- Regulation: Federal and state regulatory proposals and concerns
- Financing: Availability
of credit and funding of operations; exit strategies
- Research: Coordinating and funding nursery research initiatives
Join us to learn about these seven tracks and exchange ideas as growers from every segment develop action
plans that will impact your business and advance the industry.
